Two Sheets¶
House rules for running one character on two Daggerheart sheets. Rules authority for everything else is the Daggerheart SRD.
Each PC has two Daggerheart character sheets: a Logos sheet (level 1) and a Mythos sheet (level 4). They are one character. The Logos sheet is the default for all play.
1. One body¶
- Hit Points, Stress, and Armor Slots are tracked on the Logos sheet only and are shared by both sheets.
- Hope is a single pool shared by both sheets.
- Marking HP, Stress, or Armor while using the Mythos sheet marks the shared track.
2. Surfacing¶
- Surfacing means using the Mythos sheet in place of the Logos sheet for a single action roll or reaction roll, including its result.
- While surfaced for that roll, use the Mythos sheet's traits, Evasion, damage thresholds, class and subclass features, and domain cards.
- A surface lasts one action or reaction unless a rule below says "scene."
3. Surface track¶
- Each PC has a Surface track of 3 boxes on the Logos sheet.
- Cross one box to surface.
- The track refills at the start of each session. Unused boxes do not carry over.
4. Free surfaces¶
A PC may surface without crossing a box when any of the following occurs:
- They mark Severe damage.
- They mark their last Stress.
- The GM offers a surface. The player may decline.
A free surface is one action or reaction.
5. Cost to the GM's side¶
Whenever a PC surfaces by any means, the GM chooses one:
- Gain 1 Fear, or
- Advance one active countdown or clock by 1.
6. Surge¶
- A PC with 6 Hope may spend all 6 to surface for the rest of the current scene.
- A surge is one surface for the purposes of rule 5 (one Fear or one clock tick, once).
- Surge does not cross a Surface box.
7. Incarnation (replaces two death moves)¶
When a PC marks their last Hit Point, they choose one:
- Blaze of Glory. As written in the SRD.
- Incarnate. The PC surfaces for the rest of the scene. Clear all marked HP and Stress. For the rest of the scene use the Mythos sheet's damage thresholds. No Hope is spent. Rule 5 applies once.
Avoid Death and Risk It All are not available.
8. Scar¶
- When an Incarnation ends, the PC takes a Scar: permanently cross out one Hope slot. No roll.
- A crossed-out Hope slot can be restored only through play, at the GM's discretion, as in the SRD.
- The player also records one permanent, visible or sensible tell on the Logos sheet. The tell has no mechanical effect; it is information the GM may use.
- If a PC crosses out their last Hope slot, the Logos sheet is retired. The character continues as the Mythos sheet only, or leaves play, at the player's choice.
9. Death while incarnated¶
- If a PC marks their last Hit Point while already incarnated, they make a death move as written in the SRD, with all three options available.
