System Notes

How the table runs Stillwater Rise mechanically. Kept out of character notes so the fiction survives a rules change.

Rules: Daggerheart, locked (2026-09-05). City of Mist supplies the premise (Logos and Mythos, the Mist, the Rift); Daggerheart supplies the dice. NPC stat blocks get built with daggerheart-forge as scenes need them. Rules authority: Daggerheart SRD.

The base

City of Mist. Every character is two things at once:

  • Logos — the mundane self. Job, history, the face the City sees.
  • Mythos — the legend underneath. It surfaces when the Logos self can't carry the moment.

Most of the City never notices the Mythos layer. The investigators are the ones who do.

Builds

Character builds borrow Daggerheart structure for both halves. Each side gets a class, a subclass where it helps, experiences, and a short list of domain cards read as powers, not spells. The two sides are separate builds that share one body:

Side Class Experiences Cards
Logos one Daggerheart class, human-scale only what the mundane self has done read literally (a Ranger's aim, a Bard's patter)
Mythos one Daggerheart class (Void classes and transformation templates allowed) what the legend knows read mythically (a Wizard's Fireball is the Tower falling)

Each PC runs two sheets, a level 1 Logos and a level 4 Mythos, as one character. The Mythos sheet comes in by surfacing: a 3-box per-session track, free surfaces on Severe damage or last Stress or GM offer, a 6-Hope surge for a scene, and Incarnation in place of Avoid Death and Risk It All, with a Scar after. Every surface costs the GM side 1 Fear or a clock tick. The full rules block is Two Sheets. Stat blocks are built as scenes need them.

Conventions

  • A card that would be a spell in Daggerheart is described as an effect in the world here. Enrapture is a captivating conversation, not glamour. The book keeps its name; the table keeps its noir.
  • Mythos ancestry may differ from Logos ancestry (Coyote is Infernis; Jack Rivers is human). Note both on the character's frontmatter.
  • Nobody rolls dice at Toby.

Adversaries

  • Ordinary people are one Logos stat block at the tier the scene calls for. Most of the City is Logos all the way down.
  • A potent solo with a strong Mythos side, or a Mythos-only thing, works the way the PCs do: either one tier higher than its Logos peers, or two blocks, a Logos block and a Mythos block it swaps into on a trigger (a Surface reaction). Marked HP and Stress carry across the swap as counts; thresholds come from the new block; it doesn't swap back.
  • Stat blocks live in 06 Campaign/Adversaries.md (GM only) and are built to the Daggerheart SRD.
