• Voice of the free leaguer manifesto in the source's opening pages — speaks the "we have decided to reject that fatalism... we are the free leaguers" passage.
• Source explicitly identifies him as both a free-leaguer-aligned voice and a weapon-bearer by profession.

Homebrew context

Our table dropped the weapon-bearer institution as a city law (see City Homebrew). Vladar can still exist as an NPC — possibly the last weapon-bearer in Cadwallon, or one of a handful of stubborn holdouts in a profession the city no longer requires. His title might now read as a relic, an embarrassment, or a private boast.

The contradiction

A free leaguer (independence, swagger) who is also a hired sword-carrier (subservience, deference). What does that look like? What does he carry his master's sword for?
