• Duke of Cadwallon since 995 (eight years in office at current year 1003).
• Former free leaguer of the Ruby-Heart before his elevation.
• Adopted son of Camelia Orrkrk, Peer of The Rampart. The conditions of the adoption are explicitly kept secret.
• Rules through a circle of "faithful companions" rather than blood ties:
• Kal Rajghur — Constable, head of militia, former free leaguer.
• Silent Scyrnyth — Steward, runs Den Azhir fief day-to-day.
• Still a bachelor; his eventual marriage will have major political consequences across embassies and houses.
• Commands the militia, can summon the free leagues, and can request the Peers' assistance.

The adoption

The conditions of Den Azhir's adoption by Camelia Orrkrk remain unknown to the city. Camelia is the only living person with the full answer. The truth could destabilize his rule — or cement it permanently.
