Ogrokh¶
A fief built at ogre scale. Military, mercenary, and very recently — politically unstable.
Vibe: Entering Ogrokh feels like having suddenly shrunk. Gates built for ogres. Cobble streets at outsized scale. The muffled rumble of distant explosions occasionally shaking dust from buildings. Active during the day with shopkeepers and workers serving the soldier's needs. At night, taverns and barracks heat up — alcohol-fueled rows and fights are frequent. Dominant Attitude: Discipline.
Canon Facts¶
- Peer: Kurn Khaurik Argam — the youngest Peer in Cadwallon, son of the late Urakh Khaurik Argam (assassinated in 1002).
- Khark, valued leader of the Mar-An-Org clan, handles every-day business.
- Founder: Khaurik — brother-in-arms of Vanius until 832, awarded the fief posthumously after holding off a night-time ghoul attack alone and disarmed. The bloodline still rules.
- 932 — Ekselsire Markropet ascended to the Ducal office; many goblins settled in Cadwallon during his reign, especially in Ogrokh.
- The Khaurik Argam family is about 100 strong and provides the Duke's elite ogre guard.
The Khaurik Argam Family¶
- Family name means "sons of Khaurik."
- Pragmatic, not ambitious. Prefers to devote resources to defense works rather than political games.
- Family appreciates Gamehead folk, respects Drakaër's military traditions, despises Ghieronburg (considers it soft, loathes the apathetic "slogres" of Ghieronburg as their degenerate cousins).
Districts¶
- The Incarnat — heart of the fief, ogre clan keep, the Mar-An-Org war academy, Chains-and-Stone amphitheater for non-violent debate
- Thunder Vale — Dwarven thermo-forges and goblin vapordomes; weapons R&D; Welding Arc (Blacksmith guild HQ); the Shooting Range
- Gaorhh — forested noble park
- The Stock — warehouses for upper-city food stores
- Cadwallon/02 City/Districts/Ogrokh/The Span — trade center, Guild of Blades HQ, Akkylannian embassy
Power & Politics¶
- The Guild of Blades is the dominant commercial power in the fief, paying the Khaurik Argams a comfortable fee in exchange for control over military activities.
- The Rag'narok stirred power struggles in Thunder Vale's Shooting Range. Dwarf weapon-makers are being supplanted by goblin craftsmen since Kurn's goblin godfather Dazomet took regency. Threatens to cast the fief into bloodbath.
- The Ogrokh succession crisis is the active campaign hook:
- Previous Peer Urakh assassinated in 1002.
- His son Kurn became prey to his goblin godfather Dazomet, who pushed himself into a regency through Kurn's "stupidity" (likely poisoning or magical compulsion).
- Ogre clans got loud. Dazomet backed off.
- The Duke himself intervened, sending tutors. Kurn has "recovered his spirits."
- Dazomet has "devoted himself to improving his palace..."
What killed Urakh
A Peer's assassination should have triggered an open vendetta. Instead it triggered a soft regency by the victim's son's godfather. Someone wanted Urakh dead AND wanted Dazomet in. Who, and why now?
The Shooting Range war
Dwarf vs goblin craftsmen at Thunder Vale. The Duke wants stability. The Guild of Blades wants whoever pays more. Crossfire is going to take innocents.
The Slogres
Despised cousins in Ghieronburg. The Khaurik Argams loathe them. But they share blood. What happens when one shows up at the Incarnat gates asking for sanctuary?
