Southaven¶
"To be down south: to be extremely poor." — Trophy slang
Once an esplanade for visiting artists, built by [[Bran Standing-Wind]] with ambition for culture. Now a gruesome shanty town overrun by Rag'Narok war refugees, and firmly in the grip of a Drune faction operating under the direction of [[The Claw]]. Their violence is coordinated and expanding — the pressure is already being felt in neighboring districts. Dominant attitude: Pugnacity.
Day: Crowded, desperate, and dangerous. Refugees pack improvised shelters; Drune enforcers move openly; the nearby warehouse blocks have emptied.
Night: Worse. Fires burn in barrels; the Drune are active; rumors of ritual killing multiply.
Locations¶
- The Shanty Town — the district itself: layer on layer of improvised dwellings, each occupied by people with no better option. The [[Drune]] tax what they can; those who resist disappear.
- The Warehouse District (Opportunism / Weapon Bearers) — once animated, now a no man's land emptied by Southaven's proximity. Occupied at street level by a group of orphans under a young goblin named [[Nitrite]], along with various wretches and smugglers. Stolen goods are fenced here nightly before surfacing at the garden market in Little Klûne by morning.
- The Temple of Darkness (rumored) — the Drune are said to be sacrificing to dark gods somewhere in the district. This rumor is treated with skepticism by those who know the Kelts well — the [[Drune]] abhor gods of any kind. What they are actually doing in whatever building they've claimed as a center is, as yet, unknown.
NPCs¶
- [[The Claw]] — Drune warlord holding the district; the coordinating force behind its violence
- [[Nitrite]] — young goblin leader of the orphan gang in the warehouses; resourceful and careful
Hooks¶
The Claw's Expansion
Incidents are spilling over into Comedy Garden and Little Klûne. A merchant consortium is quietly funding anyone willing to identify The Claw's operations, map the Drune positions, and bring back something that can be used against them before the Trophy Peer is forced to act publicly — and badly.
What the Orphans Know
[[Nitrite]]'s gang has been moving goods through the warehouses for months and has seen things the Drune don't know they saw. Getting that information means earning their trust — and protecting them from what the Drune will do if they find out the orphans have been watching.
The Real Ritual
A [[Diviner]] insists the rumors of sacrifice are wrong — but something is happening in the deep structure of one of the old esplanade buildings. Not a dark god. Something older and stranger than the Drune know how to name. It's been getting louder.
