Canon Facts

• Peer: Gwan Standing-wind, of House Standing-wind.
• The Standing-winds gained the fief through a contest — Bran Standing-wind, a Sessair Kelt, won it by organizing a triumph.
• The family is in serious decline. They have sold off most of the fief's farmland to creditors — ogres and human farmers now own roughly three-quarters of the original holdings.
• Other Peers consider the Standing-winds barely legitimate. They are isolated, ignored, and possibly soon to lose the fief entirely.
• The Trophy peerage has been "freed" (re-assigned) in the past — there's precedent for stripping a Peer who can't hold their fief.

The vultures

Several houses without peerages — especially Den Azhir-adjacent families in the ducal enclave — are angling to inherit Trophy if the Standing-winds collapse. Open competition could become open war.
